While attending Faith Center Foursquare Church in Eureka, California, Scott & Leslie
Lemmon began to feel their hearts drawn to the community of McKinleyville, 12 miles
to the north.

~ WE BEGIN IN PRAYER ~
November 1995, the Lemmons move the small group meetings in their home to McKinleyville, and
invite anyone attending Faith Center and living in the McKinleyville area to participate in
a bi-weekly prayer time. |
May 1996, the first small group has grown to over 30 people and a second small group
is formed. |
August - December 1996, large group meetings are held to discuss leadership,
vision, evangelistic strategies and the Scriptural foundation for ministry. |
~ GOD GIVES THE GROWTH ~
February 1997, the first small group has again grown to over 30 people and
a third group is formed. |
March 1997, the word 'church' is used for the first time in our meetings, and
leaders are asked to commit themselves to plant a new Foursquare church in
McKinleyville. |
May 1997, the Fall of 1997 is targeted for the first public service, and the search for a
meeting place begins. |
July 1997, we enjoy the first core group leaders retreat for The Church on
The Rock. We develop our Purpose and Mission statements, examine the
Vision, and familiarize ourselves with Foursquare
administrative structures. |
November 1997, we hold our first public meeting - The Church on The Rock is
officially born! |
